"Govt's plan to split UML reprehensible, unacceptable; party expresses its serious concern"
KATHMANDU, August 17: The CPN-UML, the main opposition party, has expressed its serious concern over the government’s decision to introduce the ordinance which will ease the existing provisions to split a political party.
A Standing Committee meeting of the party held earlier on Tuesday maintained that the government’s plan to endorse such ordinance is reprehensible and unacceptable.
“The party has strongly objected to the government plan to introduce such an ordinance and split the party,” said Pradip Gyawali, the spokesperson of the party. The party also asked its leaders and cadres to stand in favor of the party's unity.
However, the government on Tuesday endorsed an ordinance which reads that 20 percent members either in the central committee or parliamentary party of a political party can split the party.
