Govt introduces ordinance, 20 percent MPs or CC members can split party
KATHMANDU, Aug 17: The government has introduced an ordinance that amends the existing provisions of the Political Party Act.
With the recent amendment, 20 percent members either in the central committee or parliamentary party of a political party can split the party.
Earlier, the act allowed a minimum of 40 percent of CC and PP members to split a political party.
With this, it will be easier for CPN-UML’s Madhav Nepal faction and JSP’s Mahantha Thakur faction to get split.
