PM Deuba calls Cabinet meeting to ‘introduce ordinance’
KATHMANDU, Aug 17: Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has callen an emergency meeting of the Council of Ministers for Tuesday afternoon.
According to a high-level source close to the prime minister, the meeting is to be held at the official residence of PM Deuba in Baluwatar.
Tuesday’s meeting is expected to introduce an ordinance that amends the provisions in the existing act to make it easy to split a political party.
The government is introducing the ordinance to include the Madhav Nepal faction of the main opposition CPN-UML in the Deuba-led government.
Meanwhile, Mahantha Thakur, a JSP leader, also visited PM Deuba asking the latter to introduce such an ordinance at the earliest.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari, on the recommendation of the government, prorogued the ongoing session of parliament effective from Monday midnight.
