TOKYO 2020, China tops medal tally with 29 golds

KATHMANDU, Aug 3: China, with five more gold medals on Monday, is still at the top of the medal tally in the ongoing Olympic game being held in Tokyo, Japan. 

As of Tuesday morning, Chinese Olympians have so far won a total of 62 medals including 29 gold, 17 silver and 16 bronze. 

The United States (US) is trailing Chinese side with a total of 64 medals which include 22 gold, 25 silver and 17 bronze. 

The hosts Japan, who have secured their largest gold medal haul of any Olympics,  are placed in the third position with 33 medals including 17 golds. 

The host country has now surpassed its previous record of 16 gold medals, which it won in 1964 and 2004.
