Valley authorities preparing to extend prohibitory orders, likely to take decision about film halls, gymnasiums

KATHMANDU, July 25: Local authorities of the three districts in the Kathmandu Valley — Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur — are preparing to extend the ongoing prohibitory orders.

The orders, which were first put in force on April 29 following the onset of the novel coronavirus disease, have been extended several times and are due to expire by midnight, Sunday.

According to Kali Prasad Parajuli, Chief District Officer (CDO) of Kathmandu district, the restriction orders will not be lifted, but will be extended by another few days as the daily COVID-19 case count is on the rise.

CDO Parajuli added that strict vigilance will be applied on night clubs, party palaces, hotels and restaurants. “We are not in a situation to allow businesses during nights. We will decide whether or not to allow the film halls and gymnasiums amid the pandemic, after a discussion today,” he added.

A joint meeting of the CDOs of three districts is scheduled to be held at 4 PM on Sunday.
