Tokyo Olympics: New national record for Nepal
TOKYO, July 24: Nepali shooting athlete Kalpana Pariyar has set a new national record in the 32nd Summer Olympics ongoing in Japan's Tokyo.
In the competition held in women's 10-meter air rifle earlier on Saturday, Pariyar made a new record with 616.8 points.
She had collected 102.2, 105.4, 101.0, 104.1, 103.4 and 100.7 respectively in first to six series. Pariyar had held the record with 614.5 points in the 13th South Asian Games held in Nepal.
Among the 50 athletes, Pariyar stood in the 46th position, and could not qualify for the second round. Associated with Nepal Army's Tribhuvan Army Club, Pariyar had received a wild card entry for the Tokyo Olympics. Gaurika Singh and Alex Shah in swimming, Saraswati Chaudhary in Athletics and Sonioa Bhatta in Judo are among those competing in the Olympics representing Nepal.
