‘Lipulekh, Kalapani belong to us’

KATHMANDU, July 22: Students affiliated to the sister organization of Nepal Communist Party led by Netra Bikram Chand Biplab staged a demonstration in the capital on Thursday. 

The students demonstrated ‘for national independence and against foreign interference’ . 

Gathering at Maitighar, Kathmandu, the participants demanded that all the leftists, progressive and republican students stand united against foreign interference. 

On the occasion, they said that Lipulekh and Kalapani regions belong to Nepal.   

Last year, Nepal had released a new map incorporating disputed regions of  Lipulekh and Kalapani after India published its political map including those regions. 

However, the issue over the disputed matter is yet to be resolved. The Bipalv-led group is of the view that Nepali land should be formally returned by taking immediate diplomatic initiatives.

The agitators also protested against the Millennium Challenge Compact (MCC).
