Kathmandu Valley records heavy rain, some areas waterlogged

KATHMANDU, July 11: Most of the places in the Kathmandu Valley recorded heavy rain on Saturday afternoon. As an impact of the active monsoon, rain is occurring in most parts of the country at present. 

According to the Meteorological Forecasting Division, light to moderate rain is occurring at many places of the country while heavy rain with thunder and lightning at a few places of Province 1, Bagmati Province, Gandaki Province, Lumbini Province and Karnali Province.

Due to heavy rain on Saturday afternoon, most of the roads in and around Anamnagar, Ghattekulo, Bijulibazar, Babarmahal and some others were waterlogged. 

Similarly, the areas near Dhobikhola corridor and Hanumante catchment areas in Madhyapur Thimi were inundated this afternoon.  

Kathmandu witnessed 69.4 mm rain as per the latest report of the Division. 

The maximum temperature of Kathmandu was measured 29.2 degree Celsius on Saturday.
