Province 1 procured 760 vehicles worth more than Rs 1 bln in 3.5 years
BIRATNAGAR, June 29: Most of the proposed programs, which were meant for the 'welfare' of the people of Province, in the last three and a half years have not been implemented.
However, the provincial government is seen much focused in procuring vehicles for the government officials and ministers including the chief minister.
The Province 1 Government already spent more than 1 billion in procuring vehicles. Chief minister and ministers themselves are found more focused on buying luxury vehicles.
Chief Minister Sher Dhan Rai himself has purchased a Prado for Rs 30.19 million neglecting the guidelines issued by his government.
A total of 109 four-wheelers worth Rs 918 million and two buses worth Rs 8.8 million were purchased in the past three fiscal years. Similarly, Rs 235 million was spent to procure 597 motorbikes and Rs 9.8 million to purchase 52 scooters.
The vehicles procurement, however, contradicts the provincial government’s policy to cut off meeting allowances, miscellaneous expenses, TDS, program expenses, procurement of furniture for old offices, vehicles and machinery tools.
