JEMC still distributing textbooks with Nepal’s old map despite Education Minister’s directives
KATHMANDU, June 26: Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, addressing a meeting of the Curriculum Development and Evaluation Council (CDEC) on June 10, directed the authorities concerned to seize all those textbooks with old maps, which did not include Limpiadhura and Lipulek regions.
However, the state-owned Janak Education Materials Center (JEMC) denied the order. The JEMC sent the textbooks imprinted with old maps of Nepal to the market.
Director General of CDEC, Baikuntha Aryal, told Ratopati that they also found the books with old maps in the course of inspection. He said that authorities concerned will be taken action if they fail to replace the textbooks with wrong content. “We already directed them to replace the old with corrected ones. If they still disobey, they’ll face music.”
