Govt lifts suspension of int’l flights to and from six countries

KATHMANDU, June 17: The government has decided to lift the suspension of the international flights to and from six different countries which are the major labor destinations for the Nepali migrant workers. 

A meeting of the COVID-19 Crisis Management Committee (CCMC) Directive Committee, held on Wednesday evening, decided to resume flights to and from Turkey, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Japan and Malaysia. 

With the recent decision, the flights will be operated in such a way that no more than 2,000 passengers be airlifted in a week. 

The meeting, presided by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, also decided to provide specific amount to those migrant laborers who have returned from abroad but can not stay at quarantine facilities at hotels due to various reasons. With this, the government will manage the expenses of 10 out of 15 days of those workers.
