We’ll soon get positive news COVID-19 vaccine: Minister Tamang

KATHMANDU, June 9: Minister for Health and Population (MoHP), Sher Bahadur Tamang has said that priority will be given to all the frontline workers in the upcoming days while administering vaccines against the coronavirus disease. 

While receiving the memorandum of the Nepal Sports Federation on Wednesday, Minister Tamang said that positive news would come in a few days regarding the vaccination against COVID-19.

On the occasion, Minister Tamang said that the ministry has made vaccination a priority. “Due to the limited number of vaccines, we are separating the age group. You will probably get positive news about the COVID-19 vaccine in a few days,” said Tamang. 

“Earlier, the journalists were inoculated that we are yet to vaccinate the sports persons. We will now pay attention if we can bring more results of the vaccine by targeting all the frontliners from different areas including the sports sector." 

He also added that the government is studying how all types of treatments including that of corona can be made easier for the people in a bid to ensure  that people will not have to die due to lack of treatment.

While handing over a memorandum to Minister Tamang, the Nepal Sports Federation requested the government to provide 5,000 doses of vaccine against COVID-19 for the sports sector including players.

Similarly, the federation has demanded the government vaccinate all the citizens within the next two months, make PCR testing easy and wide,  prioritize the sports sector and  run a vaccination center at the National Sports Council, Tripureshwor.
