Nepal’s corona graph rising, 8,892 cases detected this week

KATHMANDU, April 23: Amid the onset of the second wave of the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) triggered by the new variant, Nepal has been witnessing a rapid rise in the number of new infections.  

According to the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP), a total of 8,892 new cases were detected across the country between Sunday and Thursday this week. The trend shows that the number of newer infections is on the rise. On Sunday, officials confirmed 1,096 cases while 1,281 on Monday. Similarly, 1,736 cases were added to the COVID-19 tally on Tuesday, 2,351 on Wednesday and 2,428 on Thursday. 

Nepal reported a total of 292,152 total infections as of Thursday afternoon. The country confirmed the first case of the disease in January last year. As many as 3,117 patients succumbed to the lethal virus.
