Country witnesses 2,225 new cases of coronavirus infection

Kathmandu - The country recorded a total of 2,225 new cases of coronavirus infection in the past 24 hours, making the coronavirus tally 155,233 so far. In the past 24 hours, altogether 13,846 suspected ones got their RT PRC tests to confirm the infection of coronavirus. The country now has 46,057 active cases of the virus including 20,000 plus in Kathmandu. According to the Ministry of Health and Population, a total of 2,846 people recovered from the virus in the past 24 hours.

As of Saturday, 108,334 people got recovery from the virus. The recovery rate is 69.8 per cent. Likewise, altogether 10,501 people in Kathmandu are in home isolation, 2,664 in Lalitpur and 1,719 in Bhaktapur districts. Of the active cases, 307 patients are receiving treatment at ICUs and 70 others are in ventilators. Similarly, the Ministry stated that 1,110 new cases of the virus including 681 women were confirmed in the Kathmandu Valley alone in the last 24 hours.

Of them, 2,357 are from Kathmandu, 236 from Lalitpur, and 127 from Bhaktapur district. Likewise, the Ministry said that Jhapa, Morang, Sunsari, Kavre, Kathmandu, Lalitpur, Bhaktapur, Rupandehi, Chitwan, Dang, Banke, Jhapa, Makawanpur, Kaski, Surkhet and Kailali districts recorded more than 500 cases of the virus.

Province wise, a total of 222 cases were reported in Province No. 1 and 84 in Province No. 2 while 1,217 individuals tested positive for the virus in Bagmati Province. Similarly, Gandaki saw 145 new cases, 373 in Lumbini, 42 in Karnali and 142 in Sudur Paschim province in the past 24 hours. The Ministry said that 192 persons succumbed to the virus in Kathmandu, 52 in Bhaktapur and 54 in Lalitpur districts. In the past 24 hours, 13 people succumbed to the virus. With this, the total number of deaths from Covid-19 reached 842 in Nepal.
