Country moves towards socialism based on constitution: former PM Nepal

Kathmandu - Former Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal has said the country has moved ahead aligning the goal of advancing socialism on the foundation of the present constitution. In a message delivered on the occasion of the sixth Constitution Day today, he said the country was heading to achieve the goal of building socialism by assuring the economic, social transformation, development, prosperity and social justice.

The former prime minister said that the main achievement of the constitution was the establishment of federal forms of governance replacing the centralized governance system. “Institutionalising federalism in course of the implementation of the constitution was an epochal achievement during the five years”. “I am confident that the Constitution Day would further inspire us to engage in the making of peaceful and prosperous Nepal”, he said in the message.
