Government is always with people in hour of pain: Home Minister

Kathmandu - Minister for Home Affairs, Ram Bahadur Thapa, has distributed relief materials to flood victims of Dhorpatan today. He also carried out onsite visit of flood-hit area of Dhorpatan municipality-9. A team comprising Home Minister Thapa and member of House of Representatives (HoR), Debendra Poudel, had reached Dhorptan with relief. Tent, mats as well as other materials were distributed.

On the occasion, Home Minister Thapa said that the government would help to provide relief and resettlement to flood affected people. He said, "The government is always with the people in the hour of pain and hard time." The government would provide Rs 200 thusand each to the families of those who lost their lives in flood, added Home Minister Thapa. Similarly, the lawmaker Poudel expressed commitment to provide Rs 300 thousand for the reconstruction to the locals whose houses sustained complete damages in the flood.

He said that he would take possible initiative for the repair and upgrading of Saljhandi-Dhorpatan road section, damaged by the flood. A chopper carrying Home Minister Thapa with relief materials on Thursday had returned due to bad weather. A team carrying Home Minister Thapa had reached Dhorpatan with relief materials today.

The flood on Bhujikhola on Wednesday had made huge of loss of lives and property at Dhorpatan municipality-7, 8 and 9. Of the missing, bodies of 14 locals have been found so farm according to the District Police Office. Police Inspector at the Area Police Office, Prakash Singh Bhandari, said that search and rescue operation is underway.
