School session to be completed even by reducing syllabus: Education Minister

Kathmandu - Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Giriraj Mani Pokharel has said work schedule would be prepared without sparing the academic session at any level. Addressing a virtual interaction organised by All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU) today, the Education Minister clarified that the school session would be completed within the timetable scheduled earlier by cutting on the syllabus although the classes could not be run due to COVID-19.

He said the alternative learning facilitation guideline would be revised and the alternative learning would be made an integral part of the student evaluation and examination. The Education Minister also on the occasion shared that preparations are on for operating a separate dedicated educational television by the government for alternative learning. "I have proposed to the Prime Minister for a separate dedicated education television channel for a systematic alternative education.

The Prime Minister has also taken this proposal positively," he said, adding that arrangements would be made for giving classes to the secondary level in the morning, to the basic level in the day and to the university level in the evening through this television. Coordinator of All Nepal National Free Students Union, Ain Mahar, expressed the view that alternative learning should be accessible to all students.

Joint-Coordinator Ranjeet Tamang urged to take decision about examination of grade 12 immediately. Student leaders had drawn attention of Minister Pokharel regarding making review of alternative learning more effective, to conduct postponed exam from alternative method, implementing new curriculum in grade 11.
