Septuagenarian and expecting mom succumb to coronavirus

Kathmandu - A 70-year-old elderly from Banke and 23-year-old expecting mother from Bara died of coronavirus infection in the districts concerned today, the officials confirmed. According to corona focal person of Banke Health Office Naresh Shrestha, the woman of Nepalgunj Sub-Metropolitan City-7 died at 10:30 am today in Teaching Hospital, Kohalpur. She was admitted to the hospital a week ago after complaining of pneumonia. She was tested positive for the virus on August 21.

Chief District Officer of Banke Ram Bahadur Kurumbang said that preparations are ongoing to manage the dead body in coordination with the deceased's family members and Nepal Army. With this, the death toll from coronavirus reached six in Banke. Prior this, 25-year-old youth of Narainapur Rural Municipality, 46-year-old of Baijanath Rural Municipality, 70-year-old woman of Kohalpur Municipality-2, 62-year-old man of Nepalgunj-5 and 37-year-old youth of Nepalgunj-1 lost their lives due to coronavirus infection in the district.

Likewise, an expecting mother from Bara district died of coronavirus infection in Narayani Hospital in Birgunj at 6:30 this morning while receiving treatment. The District Health Office Bara said that she was receiving treatment from yesterday. It is learnt that she was pregnant in her 33rd week. Her kin had rushed to the hospital after she complained of fever and respiratory related problems. Works are on for the management of dead body, Spokesperson of District Police Office, Bara, Gautam Mishra said.
