Kathmandu - Chief Minister of Karnali State, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has called for celebrating a Teej festival responding to COVID-19 this year. He said this in a message he gave on the occasion of Haritalika Teej, the special festival of Hindu women. The Chief Minister has extended best wishes for health, happiness, peace, prosperity and longevity of all the Nepali sisters at home and abroad on this occasion.

He has urged all to celebrate the festival staying at home and in a safe manner to prevent coronavirus infection. Chief Minister Shahi has described the festivals as a medium to propagate social unity ad goodwill. "The Haritalika Teej should be marked as a festival of family get-together and social amity celebrating women's freedom and not on the traditional superstitious basis. It should be utilised as an occasion to voice for women's rights, equality and empowerment," he added.
