Nepal to be presented as 'theme country' in International Himalayan Tourism Fair

Kathmandu - Nepal is to be presented as the 'theme country' in International Himalayan Tourism and Cultural Fair that is going to kick-start in Ganzi Prefecture of Sichuan Province of China on Wednesday. The entire cost of the event would be covered by host country China, it is said.

Nepal handicrafts would be kept on exhibition in 30 stalls while Lumbini, the site enlisted in the world heritage list, and tourist city Pokhara would be promoted in the fair. In the three-day fair, Sino-Nepal Media Society has gotten responsibility for Nepal's representation and coordination. On the sideline of the fair, a workshop on Nepal-China small and medium enterprises industry promotion is scheduled to be organized.

Committee's chairman Dhruba Poudel said that government of the Ganzi Prefecture has vowed to ensure top priority for Nepal in the exhibition and a memorandum of understanding would be signed to this effect. The fair is expected to support Nepal's tourism and handicraft industry which is affected from the pandemic Covid-19 outbreak. China's Sichuan province has the largest number of air connectivity with Nepal and Air China, Tibet Air and Sichuan Air have made their regular flights from Chengdu to Kathmandu.
