Traffic stopped in Damauli-Dumre road section

Kathmandu - The Dumre road section in Damauli has been closed for all kinds of traffic today. The district administration had earlier allowed only light vehicles to ply on the road for Friday and Saturday but it has been withdrawn after the road faced problem.

Though light vehicles were allowed after gravelling the alternative route, traffic had to be shut after problems were faced due to use of low quantity of gravel on the road, Chief District Officer Sagar Acharya said.

Hence, the road had to be completely shut for traffic for one day. Even light vehicles invited damage to the road. Hence, it will be consolidated today and traffic will resume from tomorrow, Acharya said. However, vehicles providing essential service including ambulance will be allowed to ply on the road.

The alternative route had been constructed after the road caved in following landslide at Nala in ward no. 1 of Bandipur rural municipality. The highway passing through Bandipur was also obstructed due to landslides on July 19 and 20. Despite continuous rainfall since Thursday, others areas of the Prithivi Highway have seen no problem of obstruction, according to DSP at the District Police Office, Tanahu Yubaraj Timilsina.
