Transport entrepreneurs, workers call for resolving their problems

Kathmandu - Transport entrepreneurs and workers have called on the sides concerned to promptly resolve their problems. The task force formed to resolve the existing problems in the transport sector met with Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deuba and urged him to play a role in getting their problems resolved.

The transport entrepreneurs and workers have called for suspension of instalments payable to banks and financial institutions and making arrangements for refinance and facilitating in renewing the documents, for arranging for free and regular health check-up of workers and for having 50 per cent contribution each of the government and the entrepreneurs to the Corona Insurance.

Similarly, the entrepreneurs and workers have demanded making provision for providing medical goods and PPE to the workers. The task force comprises the president of National Federation of Nepal Transport Entrepreneurs, the president of Nepal Transport Workers Association, the president of All Nepal Transport Workers Association and the president of Nepal Transport Independent Workers Organisation.

In the meeting, president of the Nepali Congress, the main opposition party in parliament, expressed commitment to play a constructive role in resolving the problems existing in the transport sector, Federation's general secretary Saroj Sitaula said. The task force is scheduled to meet with the top leaders of all the political parties in connection with resolving the existing problems in the transport sector.
