11 go missing in Sankhuwasabha landslide

Kathmandu - Eleven people have gone missing as a landslide swept away seven houses at Besinda of Sisuwakhola of Silichong rural municipality-1 in Sankhuwasabha. Three people were rescued from the landslide triggered by incessant rainfall last night, said ward chair Ram Bahadur Kulung.

The landslide also damaged the ward office building and the local health post. Rain has not stopped in the area thus impeding rescue efforts. Security force is yet to reach the site and further details of the loss from the disaster are awaited, Sankhuwasabha's Police Chief Nawaraj Malla said. It is said a police squad has been already deployed to the affected area.
