One killed, three others rescued after landslide buries house

Kathmandu - A person has died while three others have been rescued unhurt after landslide buried a house in Pokhara. The deceased is Durga Bahadur Sunar of Paitedanda, Pokhara Metropolitan City-26. His house made of blocks and having zinc sheet roof was buried by landslide that occurred last night, the District Police Office, Kaski, said.

Sunar of around 30-35 years had gone missing in the incident. Police and locals retrieved his dead body this morning while carrying out a search, Deputy Superintendent of Police Subas Hamal said. However, Sunar's wife, son and daughter have been rescued unhurt from the incident site.

An 11-member police rescue team was mobilised to the incident site soon after the information about the disaster was received. Seven people have lost their lives and 11 have sustained injuries in separate landslide-related incidents triggered by incessant rainfall at three places of Pokhara last night. The injured are being treated at various health facilities in Pokhara. Five people died in Sarangkot and one person died at Hemja.
