No compromise on relief and rescue operations- Speaker Sapkota

Kathmandu - Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota has expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and properties by the flood and landslide at Bahrabise in Sindhupalchowk district last night. Talking to journalists at Chautara in the district following the on-site inspection of the disaster site today, he pledged that there would be no compromise in rendering relief to those injured and victimized in the flood and landslide occurred in the Jambu rivulet last night.

Speaker Sapkota said that the rescue operation along with relief materials distribution were underway and expressed his confidence that the government would perform effectively in the search for the missing and providing relief support to the survivors. Chief District Officer Umesh Kumar Dhakal informed that the District Disaster Management Committee has so far distributed relief to 30 disaster survivor families.

The materials distributed were tents, mattresses, tarpaulins, utensil sets, blankets and clothes As informed, a team comprising Bagmati State Minister for Social Development Yubaraj Dulal, Minister for Internal Affairs Salikram Jamakattel and Minister for Forest, Environment and Tourism Saresh Nepal has been engaged in the field for rescue operations. The mobility has come to a complete halt after the flood swept away the cemented bridge at Khagdal on Bahrabise-Kodari section along the Araniko Highway.
