Octogenarian woman beats COVID-19

Kathmandu - Providing rays of hope for those fighting COVID-19, an 81-year-old infected woman in Siraha district has beaten the infection. Kagati Devi Mandal of Sanhaitha in Siraha Municipality-19 recovered from the virus giving a surprising pleasure to her family, relatives and neighbours.

She was kept in isolation at Chandra Secondary School in the district headquarters of Siraha after she was tested positive for the virus. The octogenarian was contacted with the virus from her family members. Initially she had stayed at a quarantine facility at Siraha Campus for two weeks.

Mandal was sent home after her coronavirus reports were negative, said Arvind Mandal, the isolation ward in-charge. Her swabs were tested twice. Sixty three others in the district were discharged from isolation after being cured, said the District Health Office. Of them, 49 had stayed at the school and 14 at Mahendra Genai Maternity Hospital. Currently, 49 infected people are receiving treatment, said the Office.
