Ambassador Dahal presents LoC to Governor General of New Zealand

Kathmandu - Nepalese ambassador to Australia Mahesh Raj Dahal presented his Letter of Credence (LoC) to Governor General of New Zealand, Dame Pasty Reddy GNZM QSO, through video-conference today. Dahal has been accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Nepal to New Zealand in the ceremony.

While presenting the credentials, ambassador Dahal conveyed to Governor General Dame Pasty Reddy GNZM QSO and government and people of New Zealand warm greetings and best wishes from President Bidya Devi Bhandari and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and the people of Nepal.

On the occasion, ambassador Dahal acknowledged the role played by the New Zealand Government in containing the spread of Corona Virus and congratulated her becoming one of the first nations on earth to be COVID-19 free. He also thanked and appreciated the New Zealand government for the protection and support provided to the members of the Nepali diaspora including Nepali international students and temporary visa holders in New Zealand over the difficult times.

Ambassador Dahal also said that Nepal attaches high importance to its relations with New Zealand and looks forward to continued cooperation in the post-COVID context for the mutual benefit of the two countries and peoples especially in the trade and investment sector.

After accepting the Letter of Credence, Governor General congratulated and expressed her best wishes for the successful tenure of ambassador Dahal. She also extended her greetings and best wishes to President Bhandari and Prime Minister Oli and people of Nepal sharing happiness over friendly bilateral ties between two nations. Diplomatic relations between Nepal and New Zealand were established on May 26, 1961. The Embassy of Nepal in Canberra is concurrently accredited to New Zealand as well.
