Muddy road restricts mobility among people in Parsa

Kathmandu - The rural village areas in Parsa district have been disconnected with one another due to the roads turning muddy since the monsoon became active in Nepal. The development works undertaken during the month of June have also contributed to transform the roads into muddy in the areas like Tharuhat, Pokhariya Langadi and Hulaki road section among others in the district.

People have to brave the dilapidated and muddy roads and puddles along the way. Hence, the mobility among the people here has been restricted as such roads pose great risks to commuters, according to Thori Rural Municipality. Local farmer Bijay Pandit ranted that they have not been able to move around due to the muddy road condition.

Roads in Chipaharmai rural municipality, Dhobini, Sakhuwa Prasauni, Paterwa Sugauli, Jagaranathpur and Jirabhawani among others rural municipalities were in a sorry state, informed Thori rural municipality’s Bir Bahadur Shrestha. The alternative rural road, Janata Sadak, linking many rural parts of Parsa to district headquarters Birgunj is also in similar situation, according to him.
