Despite protocol corona victim body left unattended

Kathmandu -The body of a woman, who was confirmed positive to Corona Virus positive after her death, was left unattended by the authorities assigned to carry out the cremation. The woman from Baijanathpur rural municipality died on June 15 at the ICU ward of Nepalgunj Medical College in Kohalpur, Banke. However, the medical college administration, the Nepal Army assigned to do the task and other stakeholders showed no concern whatsoever to help transport the body for cremation.

As a result, the Baijanath rural municipality, from where the woman belonged, had to use its vehicle to carry the body to the cremation ground. "I had to use my office vehicle to transport the body from the hospital to Mankhola for cremation," said the rural municipality chair Man Bahadur Ruchal. The woman had been admitted to the ICU of the hospital for treatment of pneumonia on June 14. She died a day later on June 15 but was confirmed Corona Virus positive only on June 16. Hence, the hospital administration as well as other assigned authorities did not bother about managing the body for cremation, Ruchal said.
