Call for one-third representation of women in cabinet

Kathmandu - The Inter-party women's alliance has sought one-third representation of women in the new Council of Ministers. 

A delegation from the Alliance called on Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba at his office on Tuesday and handed over a memo calling for ensuring women's one-third representation in his cabinet to reflect the spirit and values of the constitution. The Alliance also called for 33 per cent women's participation in the constitutional bodies, diplomatic missions and other government agencies, according to General Secretary of the Alliance Yashoda Subedi. 

Prime Minister Deuba on the occasion expressed the commitment to increase women's participation in the cabinet, while pointing out to the increase in women's political participation through the local level election.
