NA members discuss Corona virtually

Kathmandu - National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timalsena hosted a virtual discussion among the NA office-bearers, parliamentary party leaders, whip and committee chairs. The nearly two-hour meeting came up with a conclusion that a bilateral team should be formed to jointly monitor the state of the people in quarantine in the bordering areas of Nepal and India.

The meeting also emphasized on the need to wipe out the shortcomings in the management of quarantine centres and keep track of Nepali citizens outside the country through the diplomatic missions. Some of the participants of the virtual meeting suggested extending the lockdown and making it stricter. The role played by the local people's representatives at this moment of crisis was praised.

On the occasion, NC's Radheshyam Adhikari emphasized on the need to give priority to agriculture production in the days to come, so as to make the country self-reliant. NCP's Ram Narayan Bidari said the government's decision to mobilize private health practitioners in the treatment of COVID-19 patients should be strictly enforced. Leading the meeting from his office in Singha Durbar, NA Chair Timalsena said based on the discussion a list of to-do things for the government would be prepared and submitted.

He also urged the NA members to continuously monitor and keep alerting the government for prevention and treatment of COVID-19 and providing relief to the people severely hit by the lockdown. Chair Timalsena shared that a video conference with Speakers and Deputy Speakers of all the seven States had been scheduled for April 15.
