Pokhara Metropolis Provides Incentives and Seeds to Cattle Farmers

Kaski. Pokhara Metropolis has provided incentive grants along with improved breed seeds to farmers who raise cattle.

In the fiscal year 2081-82, an incentive amount of Rs 10,000 each was provided to 550 cattle farmers in 19 wards, totaling Rs 5.5 million. In the last fiscal year, improved breed seeds were distributed targeting the same farmers.

Manohar Kadariya, Chief of the Agriculture Division of the Metropolis, said that incentive grants are provided to farmers who raise cattle to encourage them and preserve the traditional agricultural system.

The trend of leaving land fallow has also decreased somewhat after farmers raising cattle started receiving grants. The Metropolis has provided incentive grants to farmers raising cattle in the largest numbers in Ward No. 21 with 84, Ward No. 16 with 84, Ward No. 24 with 62, Ward No. 23 with 51, Ward No. 20 with 48, Ward No. 22 with 28, Ward No. 18 with 31, Ward No. 28 with 32, Ward No. 31 with 38, Ward No. 33 with 29, Ward No. 13 with 12, Ward No. 19 with eight, Ward No. 27 with six, Ward No. 26 with five, Ward No. 25 with three, Ward No. 32 with 11, and Ward No. 6 with two each, and Ward No. 15 with one cattle farmer.
