Prachanda warns against efforts to lead Nepal back to anarchy and authoritarianism
Kathmandu, November 15 — Pushpakamal Dahal 'Prachanda', the chairman of the CPN (Maoist Centre) and former Prime Minister, has stated that efforts are being made to push society back toward anarchy and authoritarianism. He made these remarks at an event held in Kathmandu on Friday.
Prachanda emphasized that anyone within their ranks who attempts to backtrack from the values and principles of the federal democratic republic they established should not be allowed to succeed. He called for a unified response against efforts to dissolve the parliament and lead the country back to a state of confusion and instability, which goes against the spirit and essence of the Constitution.
Prachanda also warned against any attempts to violate the Constitution or dissolve the parliament, as had been done in the past. He stressed the need to stay alert and prevent the country from moving toward regression once again.
He said, “There are efforts, somewhere, to take society back toward more anarchy and authoritarianism. As I have always said, we must ensure that anyone within our ranks who seeks to deviate from the values and principles of the federal democratic republic we established does not succeed.”
Prachanda acknowledged the need for constitutional amendments but stressed that those who support the Constitution must take the issue seriously. He also admitted to having made some mistakes in the past.
