LOD minor rape case: LOD club issues public statement

KATHMANDU, July 22: The Lord of the Drinks (LOD) club has issued a press release stating that no one is above the law. The club in the press release stated that it has done business within the confines of the law.

A few weeks ago, a 15-year-old girl who went to the LOD club was raped by a man in Lalitpur. After the incident was publicised, the police arrested the operator for letting a minor enter the club. After the incident, the club released a statement on social media expressing grief to the girl over the incident.

"We are not above the law. We have done business within the confines of the law and will continue to do so. The club is determined to protect every single thing. We will hold ourselves accountable," the club stated in the press release.

Even though the incident did not take place inside the club premises, the club mentioned in the press release that there were shortcomings on the part of the club management. The club also stated that they sometimes make slight mistakes while following the law and apologised for it.

"LOD has always prioritised the safety of its employees and customers. The club reminds the customers that they are treating guests and staff as family," reads the press release.
