Narcotic drug is cancer to human society: Law Minister Bhandari

Surkhet – Minister for Internal Affairs and Law of Karnali Province Naresh Bhandari has termed the narcotic drug to be the cancer to human society.
Addressing the closing ceremony of an awareness drive on narcotic drugs organized by the Province Police Wives Association at the provincial capital of Karnali province in Surkhet today, Minister Bhandari expressed his concerns over the growing cases of narcotic drug use among the people, especially youth.
Pointing out the need for one and all to work at a war footing to discourage the use of narcotic drugs, Minister Bhandari shared that the provincial government had allocated Rs 20.5 million budget in the current fiscal year to make Karnali Province free of drug abuse.
Similarly, Karnali Province Police Wives Association President Mahima Shahi said that the awareness drive against the use of all narcotic drugs was launched to navigate the future generation to the right direction.
"The drive is aimed at enabling spiritual, cultural, and social transformation," President Shahi added.
'Ashara Sudhar Kendra' Ranibari, Kathmandu's consultant Labaj Puri shared that the awareness drive was launched among the 3,419 students in various districts in Karnali Province as Kalikot, Jumla, Mugu and Surkhet.
On the occasion, appreciation letter was awarded to the District Police Offices in Mugu, Kalikot and Surkhet, Area Police Office at Chhinchu in Surkhet, Police Training Centre Surkhet and Sub Inspector of Police Manju Chaudhary for their contributions in the drive against narcotic drugs.
Likewise, Sher Bahadur Mahato, Lok Bahadur Mahato and Mahadev Giri were rewarded in cash for their contribution for the same.
