No financial crunch for Karnali’s development: Chief Minister Shahi

 

Kalikot –Chief Minister of Karnali Province, Mahendra Bahadur Shahi, has expressed commitment that he would not allow financial shortage for the economic development of Karnali province. 


Inaugurating the 2nd district assembly of district coordination committee here Monday, Minister Shahi said although the Karnali Province is addressed as poor province, economic crunch would not be entertained at the cost of development here. 


“In order to formulate plans for the systematic development of the province, a planning commission was set up here,” Chief Minister Shahi informed, adding that time has come to show result. 


For the multi sectoral development, the provincial planning commission has formulated immediate and long term plans, according to the Chief Minister. 


“No donors but people work for development. However, support is sought from the donors,” he argued. 
He further viewed that the national campaign of development and prosperity could be achieved only after the promotion of agriculture, industry, tourism and medicine herbs. Proper use of resources can lead to sustainable development, he pointed. 


The Chief Minister urged the government officials to ensure service delivery by winning the trust of the service recipients. 


He however complained with the federal government that the provincial and local government offices were facing shortage of employees, which has directly hampered service delivery “Federal government showed apathy towards the supply of employees,” he blamed. 


The programme attended by lawmakers, political leaders, rights defenders, development practitioners, media persons featured the issues as construction of airport, upgrading of Karnali Highway, quality and skill oriented education, establishment of medium and big industries, protection and promotion of tourism and others.
