Myagdi – CPN chair and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal ‘Prachanda’ has said the existing education policy needed change to achieve the goal of socialism mentioned in the constitution.
Addressing a programme organized by the Myagdi Multiple Campus in Beni today, he said the problem of educated unemployed has increased in the country due to the centralized and unitary policy adopted in the past.
He said education, health and employment were the responsibility of the state, and the government was preparing to bring new policy for addressing all the problems in the education sector.
CPN chair Dahal pledged to draft an education policy that is able to stop the brain drain, to create employment, to promote self-employment and to produce able and skilled human resources for country’s development.
“During the three days I was in Myagdi, I found that outmigration is the main problem here. We will give attention to make policy for exploiting the local natural resources by promoting self-employment so that the people will stay within the district,” he said.
CPN chair Dahal opined that Myagdi with its natural hot water springs at dozen places could be developed into a health tourism destination. He also pledged to take initiatives for the protection of Beni Bazar from river erosion and for completion of the Beni-Darbang-Dhorpatan road upgrading project.
On the occasion, he also released a book containing the activities of the Myagdi Multiple Campus. Chairman of the campus management committee Bal Krishna Subedi and Principal Tikaram Sapkota briefed the CPN chair about the history, the present status and the future plans of the Campus that is run by the community.
