Surkhet – Karnali province Chief Minister Mahendra Bahadur Shahi has claimed that the Karnali region is not poor, but has been made so.
"The region is rich in natural resources including fresh water, specific food grains and herbs, but we have ignored the valuable gifts of nature and adopted the culture of indulging in tea and biscuits", claimed the CM while inaugurating a capacity enhancement programme organised for office bearers and employees of local level judicial committees here today.
Objecting to the expectation for livelihoods support from outsiders, a means that gradually make Nepalis dependent, he called for judicial committee members to dedicate themselves to the service of people with high confidence.
Province minister for internal affairs and law, Naresh Bhandari, said women having been denied justice in the past had now started serving at justice-delivery mechanism, which was one of the major achievements of the republic system.
Minister for economic affairs and planning, Prakash Jwala, said the constitution and laws had given major responsibility to the coordinator of committee.
Minister for land management, agriculture and cooperatives Bimala KC stated that opportunities for women to serve as justice providers followed the century-long struggle for the same, urging the women to perform assertively and confidently.
Office bearers and staffs of judicial committees of nine local levels in Surkhet district were present at the programme. The programme will be organised in all 10 districts in the Karnali province. ---
