Jalpa Devi Cable Car to Operate Within Two Months

Kathmandu. IME Group is preparing to bring the Jalpa Devi Cable Car, being constructed in Chisapani, Kailali, into operation within the next two months. 

The company claimed that the construction work has reached the final stage and the project will be completed within the stipulated time.

Former President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry and Chairman of Jalpa Devi Cable Car Pvt. Ltd. Chandra Prasad Dhakal stated that private sector-constructed projects have been proving their capability to complete within the stipulated time, cost, and quality, and Jalpa Devi Cable Car will also come into operation within the stipulated time.

“Projects undertaken by the private sector are being completed within the specified time, budget, and quality,” Dhakal said, “We started the construction of this Jalpa Devi Cable Car project about 11 months ago. We are bringing this project into operation within the stipulated time.”

IME Group is constructing a 3.1 km long cable car from Chisapani in Lamki Chuha Municipality-3, Kailali to Rajkanda in Mohanyal Rural Municipality-7. 

In the project with a total investment of five billion rupees, structures including a hotel, casino, and banquet hall will be constructed at the bottom station, while tourist infrastructures such as a resort, temple, sky walk, walking trail, restaurant, and children's park will be developed at the top station, the company said.

Chairman Dhakal said that Nepal cannot achieve the expected economic transformation without expanding investment in tourism infrastructure, and tourism alone can bring about significant change in Nepal's economic, cultural, and social sectors. 

He said that by increasing investment in tourism infrastructure, tourists' stay can be extended, foreign currency can be earned, employment can be created, and revenue can be increased. 

Dhakal stated that he has a long-term goal of building a cable car tourism circuit and that Jalpa Devi Cable Car is an important project in that direction. 

He mentioned the support received from the local community, political parties, and government bodies as the main basis for the project's success.

This project, located near the Karnali Chisapani bridge, which is a tourist center for Lumbini, Karnali, and Sudurpashchim provinces, can be easily reached within a two-hour drive from the Indian border. Therefore, it is believed that Jalpa Devi Cable Car will be an additional attraction for Indian tourists visiting Karnali Chisapani.
