Former State Minister Sanjay Kumar Shah Writes to Prime Minister Balen Shah from Prison

Kathmandu. Former State Minister Sanjay Kumar Shah (Takla), who has been in jail for 12 years, has sent a letter to Prime Minister Balendra Shah (Balen).

Shah, considered the main planner of the bomb blast in Janakpur, has written a letter to Prime Minister Balen claiming his innocence and demanding an investigation into the truth and action against the guilty. Shah, who is in Nakhkhu Jail, has demanded that an impartial hearing of his case be arranged immediately through the court, addressing the Prime Minister and the Council of Ministers office through the prison office.

In the application, Shah has claimed that the corruption, money laundering, and murder cases against him are baseless. Shah claims that the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority and the Department of Money Laundering have filed cases against him, treating land purchased in his father's name and when he was a minor as illegally acquired property.

He has mentioned in the application that the land in the then Kapilshwar Village Development Committee, which was in his father Sadhu Shah Sudi's name and purchased when he was a minor, now falls under Ward No. 16 of Janakpur Sub-Metropolitan City.

'Polygraph' report showed him innocent, but the court's judge did not even look at it and gave a life sentence, he mentioned that the case is currently pending in the Supreme Court for a long time.

He stated that the Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority filed a case claiming he had purchased land in the name of his father Sadhu Shah Sudi in the then Lohana Village Development Committee and kept it in his father's name. He said, 'Cases have been filed claiming that I have laundered money by purchasing land that predates my birth and keeping it in my father's name.'

He claimed that his business firm's total turnover for 7 years was deemed as unexplained wealth, but the amount was never available as a deposit. Similarly, he wrote in the letter that in the murder case, his 'polygraph test' showed him innocent, but without submitting the report to the court, he was given a life sentence. Sanjay Shah has demanded that those who accused him should also undergo a 'polygraph test'.

Shah has specifically named the judges of the then Special Court and the High Court Janakpur who convicted him with malicious intent and demanded action against them.

He has accused Special Court judges Krishna Giri, Shanti Singh Thapa, and Chandrabahadur Saru, and High Court Janakpur judges Pramod Kumar Shrestha Vaidya and Dal Kumar Khadka of making decisions without regard to evidence.

Accusing the judges of having a mentality of appearing honest by convicting famous people in the courts, he complained that his case has been pending in the Supreme Court for years, and the hearing, which should be completed within six months according to the law, has not been moved forward under various pretexts.

He reminded that he was an elected representative from Janakpur in the parliamentary elections of 2064 and 2070, and claimed that injustice has been done to him through the misuse of state machinery.
