MP Harkaraj Sampang Rai Questions Government's Silence on India Opening Lipulek Pass and Squatter Evictions

Kathmandu. Shram Sanskriti Party MP Harkaraj Sampang Rai has questioned why the government is silent when India opens a pass in Lipulek. Speaking during an emergency time in the House of Representatives meeting, MP Rai also asked whether the government sent the army to protect the border or to remove poor people from squatter settlements.

"Why is the government silent when neighboring countries encroach on Nepal's land and open passes?" MP Rai said, "Did the government send the Nepali army to protect Nepal's border or to remove poor people from squatter settlements?"

Rai also said that the country is without a guardian. He said that a government that makes squatters cry cannot be a guardian of the people.

He also questioned whether a government that violates the constitution has any justification. He questioned whether the Prime Minister has visited the holding center where the squatters are kept or is hiding in his office and residence.

"Did the Prime Minister go to the holding center or is he hiding in his own office?" MP Rai said.

MP Rai also satirized that the government has reached a stage where it needs to be taught basic calculations. He also asked the government how 3 out of 6 members in the Constitutional Council became a majority? Does 4 come before 1 or 1 before 4?
