Nepal Festival Held in San Francisco, California

Texas. 'Nepal Festival' has been organized in San Francisco, California, USA. The Nepal Festival has been organized with the objective of introducing Nepal to the international level by showcasing Nepali art, culture, attire, and traditions.

The festival, jointly organized by the Non-Resident Nepali Association (NRNA) California and other Nepali social organizations, saw significant participation from the Nepali community in various cities of America. Nepalis from Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, Bakersfield, Long Beach, and surrounding states and cities gathered in San Francisco to participate in the festival.

The Nepal Day Parade, which started from San Francisco City Hall, was conducted for a distance of approximately 1.6 miles to Embarcadero Plaza. During the parade, traffic on Market Street, the main area of the city, was closed and opened for pedestrians.

The streets of San Francisco were made 'Nepal-like' by the tableaux presented by various ethnic and regional organizations, Nepali attire, and cultural programs. The local American community also showed keen interest in observing the Nepali art and culture displayed at the event.

Various local representatives from America also participated in the program to encourage the Nepali community. The attractions of the program included Panchakanya, Panche Baja, Shankhadhwani, Kumari, Dhime, and Lakhe dance.

Diplomatic officials from the consulates general of various countries in San Francisco, mayors from the Bay Area, and city council members also participated in the festival, informed Kailash KC, secretary of NRNA California.
