Rastriya Swatantra Party Prepares for First General Convention with Constitutional Amendment

Kathmandu. The Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has moved forward with the process of amending its constitution as preparations are underway to hold its first general convention in Bhadra-Ashwin. A committee formed under the convenership of Joint General Secretary Bipin Kumar Acharya has advanced the constitutional amendment process.

The party's secretariat meeting held on Baishakh 20 had formed the constitutional amendment committee under Acharya's convenership. He informed that the work of amending the constitution will start from Monday. 

'The central committee meeting is convening on Wednesday to announce the date of the general convention and for preparations. That meeting will approve the general convention schedule. Along with that, the process of constitutional amendment will also move forward. At least the apprehension that the general convention might not happen has been resolved,' Acharya told Ratopati. 

The secretariat meeting held on Sunday evening decided to convene a central committee meeting and approve the special schedule for gatherings and conventions. 

The schedule includes holding ward gatherings on Jeth 2 for wards where committees have not been formed, holding conventions on Jeth 3 for wards where committees were formed before Baishakh 20, holding local level gatherings on Jeth 9, and holding conventions on Jeth 10 for local levels where committees were formed before Baishakh 25. The schedule is to hold conventions for the remaining wards formed before Jeth 3 on Jeth 16, and for the remaining local levels formed before Jeth 10 on Jeth 17. 

Similarly, the meeting approved the schedule to hold district conventions on Jeth 23 and 24. Meanwhile, General Secretary Kabindra Burlakoti stated that the general convention schedule approved by the secretariat meeting will be made public only after the central committee approves it.
