Weather Forecast: Mixed Influence of Western, Local Winds, and Low-Pressure Systems

Kathmandu. Nepal's weather is currently experiencing a mixed influence of western winds, local winds, and low-pressure areas. 

According to the Department of Hydrology and Meteorology, Meteorological Forecasting Division, there is a partial influence of the low-pressure area near Nepal's eastern region in the lower atmosphere, as well as the trough of the low-pressure area in the upper atmosphere over the central and eastern parts of the country. 

Due to this, most of the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi, Bagmati, and Gandaki provinces are generally cloudy, while other parts of the country are partly cloudy.

Currently, some places in the hilly and mountainous regions of Koshi and Bagmati provinces, as well as the hilly regions of Lumbini province, are experiencing moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning. The department has informed that the Sudurpaschim province and the mountainous and hilly regions across the country will generally be cloudy this afternoon, while the Tarai regions will be partly cloudy. 

There is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning in a few places in the mountainous and hilly regions of the country and in one or two places in the Tarai regions of Lumbini and Sudurpaschim provinces this afternoon.

The weather is not expected to improve tonight. Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, along with the mountainous and hilly regions of the country, will generally be cloudy, while the remaining parts will be partly cloudy. Tonight, there is a possibility of moderate rain with thunderstorms and lightning in a few places in Koshi, Madhesh, Bagmati, Gandaki, and Lumbini provinces, and in one or two places in other provinces. 

Along with the rain, there is also a possibility of snowfall in some places in the Himalayan region, the division stated.
