Law Minister Announces Legal Amendments for Stricter Penalties on Sexual Crimes

Kathmandu. Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Sobita Gautam has informed that legal amendments are being processed to ensure strict punishment for those involved in rape, sexual violence, and heinous crimes against children. 

Minister Gautam stated through her Facebook post that obstacles in laws including the Penal Code have been identified to provide swift justice to victims in serious offenses such as rape and murder after rape.

A study task force formed to study this matter in detail and make necessary amendments has already submitted its report. She mentioned that the government is working on removing loopholes in the law to bring the guilty to legal accountability and ensure punishment. 

'Based on the report, an amendment bill will be presented in the upcoming session of parliament,' said Minister Gautam.
