Kathmandu Metropolitan City Intensifies Vehicle Emission Checks to Combat Air Pollution

Kathmandu. The Environment Management Department of Kathmandu Metropolitan City has intensified vehicle checks to reduce the increasing air pollution in the Kathmandu Valley.

The department, in coordination with the Valley Traffic Police Office, has been regularly checking the pollution levels of vehicles plying at various locations here.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City has stated that this campaign has been conducted to ensure that vehicles plying on the roads comply with the prescribed standards with the objective of improving air quality in the valley.

During the pollution check, the police immediately bring vehicles that do not meet the standards set by the government under the purview of legal action. Action, including fines, has been initiated for operating vehicles that violate the standards, as this significantly increases air pollution.
