Nepali Congress Holds Two-Day Regional Meet in Dhangadhi

Dhangadhi. The Nepali Congress's Sudurpaschim Province-level gathering and training program has started in Dhangadhi from today. This two-day gathering, organized by the Congress's Central Policy, Research and Training Institute, has been said to have added new enthusiasm and energy within the party.

The presence of Gagan Thapa, who reached Sudurpaschim for the first time after being elected as chairman, has made the gathering more meaningful. Although the organizers had initially estimated the participation of about 300 people, the program venue was packed with far more than expected, over 1,000 leaders and cadres, informed leader Bhim Baduwal. According to him, the active participation of the chairmen of 9 districts of Sudurpaschim and 14 out of 16 House of Representatives members and candidates has made the program more effective. According to leader Baduwal, the party views this gathering not just as a formal program but as a root campaign to strengthen the party from the grassroots level.

On the first day of the gathering, a serious review of the past parliamentary elections was conducted, while on the second day, discussions will be held on the performance of the provincial and local governments and their coordination with the party. Leaders have stated that its main objective is to collect suggestions from the grassroots on where the party needs to improve and in which direction it should move forward in the coming days.

Various factions within the party have actively participated in the gathering. The questions raised during the discussions regarding leadership, ticket distribution, and the party's working style have been considered as a beauty of the internal democracy of the Congress.

'We are engaged in a serious and in-depth discussion, not a superficial one, about why the party has fallen behind and what needs to be done now,' said leader Baduwal. Leader Baduwal informed that the program's expenses have been managed by collecting a levy of two thousand five hundred rupees from each participating cadre, without relying on any external sources or donations.

In this program, where Chairman Thapa and Vice-Chairman and Training Institute Coordinator Bishwaprakash Sharma have a special role, top leaders including party General Secretary Gururaj Ghimire are providing training. Leader Baduwal believes that this two-day gathering will determine the future strategy of the Nepali Congress in Sudurpaschim.
