Woman Arrested for Murder of Elderly Woman in Pyuthan

Pyuthan. Police have arrested the deceased's daughter-in-law in connection with the murder of an elderly woman that occurred three and a half years ago. Police have taken 32-year-old Cheti Sunar into custody during the investigation of the murder that took place in DandaKharka, Ward No. 6 of Swargadwari Municipality.

On the morning of November 1, 2079 BS (Bikram Sambat), at around 6:30 AM, 63-year-old Dhanikumari Sunar was found dead in the field of local Bhupalal Gharti. After the body was found with severe head injuries, the police initiated an investigation treating it as a case of culpable homicide.

The District Police Office, Pyuthan, stated that during a detailed investigation of this case, which had been pending for a long time due to the accused not being identified, the involvement of the deceased's step-younger daughter-in-law, Cheti Sunar, was revealed. After obtaining an arrest warrant from the Pyuthan District Court, the police arrested her on the evening of April 23 at 4 PM.

According to Hari Bhattarai, Information Officer and Police Inspector at the District Police Office, Sunar, who has been arrested, has been taken into custody for five days by the court for a case related to culpable homicide. The police have informed that further investigation into the incident is ongoing.
