Pokhara Health Science Institute Appoints Acting Vice-Chancellor

Pokhara. The government has given the responsibility of acting vice-chancellor of Pokhara Health Science Institute to Prof. Dr. Narendra Vikram Gurung. Following the ordinance related to amending some Nepal Acts concerning the Health Science Institute and the special arrangement ordinance regarding the removal of public office bearers issued last Saturday, Vice-Chancellor Dr. Bharat Bahadur Khatri and Director Dr. Premraj Pangeni, along with 31 others, were removed from their posts.

However, an acting director has not yet been appointed. According to office information officer Sushil Kumar Aryal, he was appointed on Thursday and will assume office from Friday (today). Gandaki Hospital is operated under Pokhara Health Science Institute, and undergraduate and postgraduate medical studies are conducted.

Since the absence of a head at the institute was causing obstruction in daily work, the government has given Gurung the acting responsibility. Narendra Vikram is a surgeon. Previously, when applications were called for the vice-chancellor position, 17 people had applied, but he did not submit his name. The then KP Oli government had appointed Dr. Bharat Bahadur Khatri as the vice-chancellor.
