NAIROBI – Former U.S. President Barack Obama arrived in Kenya on Sunday for a two-day private visit.
Obama arrived in Nairobi and headed to State House in Nairobi with his sister Auma Obama for a meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta.
While in the country, the former U.S. president is also expected to meet opposition leader Raila Odinga and thereafter head to his father's ancestral home in Kogelo on Monday where he will open a sports centre under Sauti Kuu Foundation.
The centre founded by his sister, Auma, will provide educational and economic opportunities to help young people serve their communities -- and shares a similar mission to the former president's Obama Foundation.
Auma said her foundation aims to change mentalities of people so they realize there are opportunities they can make use of.
Security has been beefed up in Nairobi, Kisumu and Siaya in Western Kenya for the visit by the ex-president who is accompanied by several delegates. Enditem
